From Raw Materials to Masterpieces

This term in JLC Specialist Art classes, most of our projects have been full of messy fun, and involved transforming simple, raw materials such as clay, paper, wool and wire, into beautiful works of art.

  • Year 6 created clay animal sculptures and started printmaking.
  • Year 5 formed clay cupcakes and are working on cocoon sculptures that will be covered in monoprints.
  • Year 4 completed their papier mache birds and are working on a paper collage artwork.
  • Year 3 have been completing a tree weaving project, made clay convertible cars and have started an under the sea painting.
  • Year 1 painted their clay turtle sculptures and have started creating printed fairy tale castles.
  • Prep have been drawing and painting an oil pastel baby penguin artwork.

Our Fete art competition is fast approaching and we encourage students to submit their best pieces of art for judging. The JLC Art competition entry form is available here and the SLC Art Competition entry form is available here.
