Hillcrest Cricket Teams' Success in T20 Challenge

On Thursday, 2 May, our Hillcrest Intermediate Boys and Open Girls Cricket teams travelled to Runaway Bay to compete in Round 1 of the QLD Cricket Secondary Schools T20 Challenge. It is very exciting to report that both teams were successful in their matches against Trinity College Beenleigh.

Playing highlights include Matthew Freame (Year 9) taking 5-6 off three overs with the ball, and captain Lachlan Aitken (Year 9) scoring 31 not out with the bat, in the Intermediate Boys game.

Supported by their P&F-sponsored equipment, Talisha Simmons (Year 10) lead the Open Girls team to victory with her bowling effort of 1-11 off 4 overs and was supported by Allira Watson (Year 9) who scored 11 batting. It was a phenomenal effort for the girls who were all playing their very first official game of cricket.

While the on-field exploits were impressive, what was more important was watching the way our students supported one another on the day. Both teams have now progressed to Round 2 and will play further matches later this term.

Congratulations to all of our cricket players, and we wish them continued success in the next round!
