Director’s Welcome

Welcome to RESONANCE.

At its heart, this Academy is about more than singing. It is about helping young people discover what their voice can truly become — not just technically, but artistically and personally.

RESONANCE was created for students who are ready to be challenged, inspired and supported as they grow. Whether a student arrives with years of experience or simply strong potential and a love of singing, our work is to nurture that potential with care, discipline and high expectations.

We believe great choral singing is built on listening, humility and shared purpose. In this environment, students learn to contribute to something bigger than themselves — and in doing so, find confidence, identity and joy in their music-making.

It is a privilege to work with young singers at this stage of their journey. I look forward to welcoming the next generation into the Academy.

Overview

RESONANCE Vocal Academy is Hillcrest Christian College’s flagship specialist vocal program for passionate and high‑potential young singers in Years 7–12. Designed as a pre‑tertiary pathway, RESONANCE brings together elite vocal training, choral excellence and performance opportunities within a supportive, purpose‑driven educational environment.

The Academy exists to nurture artistry, discipline and musical leadership — developing not only exceptional singers, but confident, collaborative and resilient young people. RESONANCE is ideal for students who are serious about singing and eager to grow through challenge, craft and community.

What makes RESONANCE unique?

  • Specialist vocal focus within a holistic Christian education
  • Selective, auditioned entry ensuring a cohort of committed and like‑minded singers
  • Expert leadership from experienced choral conductors and vocal pedagogues
  • Training aligned with tertiary expectations (conservatoria, universities, professional ensembles)
  • Performance‑rich culture, including national festivals, tours and collaborations

RESONANCE is not an extracurricular choir program — it is a carefully scaffolded Academy experience designed for sustained vocal and musical growth across secondary schooling.
