Our Sports Programs

Hillcrest Christian College is home to the Hillcrest Knights - a talented group of sportsmen and women from across our College community, who take to the fields, the courts, the tracks, the pools and the seas, every week, to represent Hillcrest with outstanding sportsmanship and character. A knight is a protector of lands and people, who lives to serve their King and community, and this is the vision for our sporting teams at Hillcrest

Rugby

In 2019, Rugby officially became part of the Hillcrest Christian College landscape. The rugby program is based around the Rugby 7s format which is fast and free flowing. Students have the ability to experience this program at various times throughout the week, including during Thursday activities.

Basketball

Our Basketball Excellence Program is comprehensive and commences in the Years 5 and 6, with our coaches investing time and effort in developing players of the future. Boasting some of the best coaches in Queensland and Australia, a lot of time and effort is given to this sporting program. If basketball is your game, then Hillcrest is the name.

Netball

Hillcrest has numerous opportunities to participate in the sport of netball not only during school time, and we are fortunate to have our own club right here at the College. We participate in the Vicki Wilson Cup and Shield in the SLC and also the Samsung Cup for JLC.

Cricket

Our cricket program is a newly-formed program, with training largely undertaken during Thursday activities at the local Mudgeeraba Cricket Club. The students all have the opportunity to be selected in the College team and play against other schools.

AFL

In 2019, former AFL great, Matthew Lappin, was employed at the College to create an excellence program commencing in the JLC, and flowing through into the SLC. Hillcrest competes in the Q Schools Cup and students have the opportunities to be referred to the Gold Coast Suns Academy.

Futsal

Futsal is a fast-growing sport in Queensland, and the College has multiple teams training every morning during the week. The program commences in the JLC, and follows through to the SLC. The College teams compete in selection for the State and National championships

Surf Lifesaving

With our close proximity to some of Australia’s best beaches is it any wonder that we have our own Surf Life Saving team right here at the College. The team competes at school competitions with students gaining valuable skills from their clubs and applying them at the College

Mountain Biking

This is an explosion sport across the College and students have the opportunities to ride the Commonwealth Games tracks at Nerang, during Thursday activities. Further urban tracks are being investigated by our skilled and enthusiastic coaches. In 2019, the College will be sending it’s first team to compete at the Mountain Biking Nationals.

Soccer

Our College soccer teams compete in the Bill Turner Cup and all students are given the opportunity to develop their skills during Thursday activity time. This sport is open to both males and females, and is quickly growing in popularity.
