Middle Learning Community Scholarships

To coincide with the opening of the new Middle Learning Community, Hillcrest Christian College is offering limited Academic Excellence Scholarships to students in Year 5 for 2021.

Both internal and external students will be considered and students joining the College will have the opportunity to join the Gifted & Talented program known as Lumos.

This small class of less than 16 students caters for those who need extension due to academic ability or those who may be discreetly disengaged due to their cognitive abilities not being met in a mainstream classroom.

Application Process

  • External and internal applicants can be in Year 4 at the time of application.
  • Outstanding academic ability. Further academic testing (eg. Slossan Intelligence Test) may be requested for entry in to the Lumos Gifted and Talented program. This would be organised by the College in consultation with the parents or guardians.

Applicants must complete the following two sections to be considered for an Academic Excellence Scholarship in 2021.

1)  Written Application

Scholarship applicants are required to submit a written application of no more than 200 words outlining why they believe Hillcrest Christian College is the best place for them to focus on their learning journey.

  • No award shall be made if, in the opinion of the Executive Head of College, no candidate is of sufficient merit.
  • Scholarship recipients will be required to submit a written application and portfolio of evidence. If a student’s application is reviewed and considered to be suitable, a short interview will be organised where informal questions can be asked to explore the student’s potential, any hidden attributes, and study and life ethos.
  • Ongoing scholarship support is subject to an annual review to determine how the student has performed throughout the past year both academically and in adhering to and supporting the Hillcrest Christian College ethos and community.
