Senior Learning Community Scholarships

The College offers scholarships for two key areas of excellence:

  • Academic Excellence Scholarships are awarded to students who demonstrate a high level of academic achievement.
  • General Excellence Scholarships are awarded to students who demonstrate excellence in areas such as Sport, Drama, Music, Debating etc and a high level of academic achievement.

As Year 9 is our entry point for the Senior Learning Community, scholarships will be offered to students entering Year 9 or year 10 for 2022.

ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE SCHOLARSHIPS

The criteria for an Academic Excellence Scholarship can include the following:

  • Majority of ‘A’ results on Year 7 and Year 8 Academic Reports
  • Majority of ‘Exemplary’ or ‘Commendable’ for behaviour
  • Band 8 or 9 on all five strands in the Year 7 NAPLAN results
GENERAL EXCELLENCE SCHOLARSHIPS

This scholarship is awarded to students who demonstrate excellence in areas such as Sport, Drama, Music, Debating etc and a high level of academic achievement.

SPORTS

  • The criteria for a Sports Excellence Scholarship can include the following:
  • Regional or State selection
  • Majority of A and B results on Year 7 and Year 8 academic reports (no D or E results)
  • Majority of ‘Exemplary’ or ‘Commendable’ for behaviour
  • School sport representation will be considered more favourably

MUSIC

The criteria for a Music Excellence Scholarship can include the following:

  • Band instruments – minimum of AMEB Grade 4 or equivalent
  • Violin, viola, cello, double bass – minimum of AMEB Grade 4 or equivalent
  • Piano – minimum of AMEB Grade 4 or equivalent
  • Voice - minimum of AMEB Grade 3 or equivalent
  • Majority of A and B results on Year 7 and Year 8 academic reports (no D or E results)
  • Majority of ‘Exemplary’ or ‘Commendable’ for behaviour

Ongoing scholarship support is subject to an annual review to determine how the student has performed throughout the past year both academically and in adhering to and supporting the Hillcrest Christian College ethos and community.

The annual review for General Excellence scholarship recipients will also consider the student's ongoing performance in their area of excellence.

DETAILS

APPLICATIONS OPEN FOR A LIMITED TIME

Applications close 9 October 2021.

  • The scholarship will be awarded at the discretion of the Executive Head of College.
  • No award shall be made if, in the opinion of the Executive Head of College, no candidate is of sufficient merit
  • Scholarship recipients will be required to submit a written application and portfolio of evidence. If a student’s application is reviewed and considered to be suitable, a short interview will be organised where informal questions can be asked to explore the student’s potential, any hidden attributes and study and life ethos.
  • Ongoing scholarship support is subject to an annual review to determine how the student has performed throughout the past year both academically and in adhering and supporting the Hillcrest Christian College ethos and community.

External applicants who have not already applied for enrolment at Hillcrest Christian College will be contacted by the College Registrar about the enrolment process. From Pre-Kindy to Year 12 Hillcrest is a unique and special community. We encourage you to attend an Executive College Tour, which takes about an hour and are available most weeks throughout the school term, departing from our Main Reception building to experience Hillcrest for yourself.
