On Monday, 19 March, Years 6 students were treated to a real-world experience in journalism, film and sound recording for news and documentaries with industry professionals. The talented team from 7 News Gold Coast visited to talk to students about presenting and interviewing techniques, and shared their tricks of the trade for filming and editing stories, all in preparation for the students' upcoming DCL documentary production task.
A few Year 6 students then had the chance to share 'to camera' about what they have been learning in class, such as the importance of being global citizens, and using entrepreneurial endeavours as opportunities to raise awareness and funds for those less fortunate. The skills they have learned and the documentaries they produce will all be on display at the upcoming Compassion In Action Market Day this month, raising funds for Compassion Australia and the JLC students' sponsored children.
