Applications Now Open for Cooktown Mission Trip

Mission Trips are an important way to impart important Christ-like values, and those represented in our College Shield including service, courage and humility. Each year, Hillcrest runs two Mission Trips - one to Cooktown in North Queensland, and the other to Thailand.

We are now taking applications from students in Years 9 and 10 who wish to attend the 2020 North Queensland Mission Trip, which will be happening from Saturday, 13 June – Saturday, 20 June.

This is an affordable opportunity to be a part of a mission experience, serving in a unique part of Australia. As a team, the group will fly into Cairns and then take a bus to Cooktown, staying at Home Rule Lodge for the week. Last year, students visited Endeavour Christian College in Cooktown and assisted teachers in the classroom with running programs. Students also visited various community State Schools in the area to serve and run a program with the local chaplain. They also enjoyed some time to swim and take in the sights of the surrounding region. Students particularly enjoyed meeting the locals in the area, leading a Chapel Service, participating in a local Church Service, and helping with community needs.

If your child is keen to attend, please complete the Cooktown Mission Trip Application form, by Monday 2 March, and email it to Ps Tim Cochran, or drop it into SLC Administration.

The total cost for this trip is $980, with no financial commitment required at this stage. If your child is successful in their application, they will receive a letter of confirmation from the College. To confirm their spot on the team, the first deposit of $500 would be required by 12 March, 2020. Unfortunately, there are a limited number of positions available, and if we receive more applications then we can accommodate, we will endeavor to create further opportunities to serve on mission trips in the near future.
