Ben Quilty's Work Inspires Art Students

On Thursday, 15 August, our Year 9 Art students attended an inspiring excursion to the Gallery of Modern Art in Brisbane, to view a collection of works from one of Australia’s most acclaimed contemporary artists, Ben Quilty. The Year 9 students are working towards completing an oil painting in the style of Ben Quilty, considering the concept Rites of Passage.

The Year 11 Art students also attended the excursion to focus on viewing the ‘Creative Generation Excellence Awards’ in Visual Art, which recognises and promotes excellence in visual art education throughout Queensland's State and non-State secondary schools. This will assist students in understanding the high degree of sophistication in concepts, and diversity of technical competence presented in senior works.
