Celebrating Cultural Customs at Under 8s Day

Our highly-anticipated Under 8s Day took place on Tuesday, 22 May, for our Prep – Year 2 students. This annual event celebrated some of the cultural backgrounds of our students, with customary costumes, craft, music, stories and more!

The sun shone across the oval and our Castle classrooms as Hillcrest’s Junior students enthusiastically tried their best to participate in every activity, from Japanese Karate lessons, to digging for Indigenous bush tucker, to making Chinese ribbon sticks and African bead bracelets.

The fun-filled event gave our students a small glimpse into some of the traditional customs of their fellow Hillcrest students, and into the global community in which we all live.

Thanks to our JLC staff for all of their efforts in creating a great range of activities for our students to enjoy!
