Compassion In Action Day 2019

Today we held our Compassion In Action Day for the junior students at Hillcrest, and the Year 6 students were very excited to coordinate this much-loved annual event to help Hillcrest raise funds for Compassion International, who help so many children in need. As a cohort, we decided to rename LOL Day to ‘Compassion in Action Day’ as a better reflection of what the day is all about.

Despite the grey clouds that tried hard to reign on their parade, the Year 6s put on an amazing afternoon of fun and entertainment for our Prep - Year 5 students. The younger JLC students visited the colourful and creative stalls, enjoyed yummy food and participated in the range of engaging activities run by the Year 6s.

The lead up to CIA Day was an important learning experience for Year 6 students, who spent the last six weeks preparing for this event as part of their Term 1 DCL assessment task. They were required to become 'entrepreneurs' and create a stall which promotes compassion, while raising money for this very worthy cause. Students worked tirelessing to plan, create, collaborate and advertise their stalls and their efforts certainly paid off with a wonderful day enjoyed by all!
