UPDATE 12 March 2020
Dear Hillcrest Community,
As a part of the Hillcrest Community we would like to update you on the coronavirus (COVID-19) situation and the precautions we’re taking.
The health and safety of our Community is our highest priority. We are taking all necessary steps to enhance the protection for our students, staff and families.
The College Executive are meeting regularly to discuss our ongoing response and ensure we have the latest information from health authorities. For immediate and full information on the virus and any Q&A please refer to the World Health Organisation (WHO) website on www.who.int.
We are working with Queensland Health and other Australian health authorities regarding precautions and in many cases gone above to minimise risks concerned with COVID-19. We have also increased our hygiene standards including additional sanitising procedures.
Some of these actions include:
In the aim to keep our community safe, if a student or immediate family member feels unwell, they are advised to seek medical advice as soon as possible. The symptoms include fever, cough, sore throat and shortness of breath.
If a student presents with these symptoms at school, they will be asked to stay home until cleared with a medical certificate. These measures are consistent with Queensland Department of Health guidelines which requires self-isolation and avoidance of all public spaces.
If your child develops these symptoms, please consult a doctor and keep your child at home until a professional assessment is made. Any student who cannot attend school for a prolonged period will be able to access their learning programs at home.
The College will continue to keep families up to date as further information becomes available through the following sources.
Links to updated information will be featured in the NOTICES icon. If you do not have the College App you can download it by visiting the following links.
Currently the College is operating as normal with a high degree of caution. In the event of the College being forced to close, online learning will commence for the duration of the closure. Further information and instructions about our online learning will be provided in such circumstances.
We thank you for your understanding as we work together to respond to this matter.
