As team members of the Junior B Debating team, we represented Hillcrest Christian College in the first round of debating for 2017. The topic of our debate was ‘pirates are better than ninjas’ and we were the affirmative team. We arrived at All Saints Anglican College full of confidence (even if we were only pretending). Mitchell Gant was our chairperson for the debate and Liam Carstens got the cannon ball rolling as our first speaker. As second and third speakers, Madeleine Kaye and Mikel VanDyken then sealed the fate of the negative team with their rebuttals. All in all, we had an enjoyable experience and won the debate.
