Effective Aid International Chocolate Box Fundraiser 2020

6 March 2020

Re: Effective Aid International Chocolate Box Fundraiser

Dear Parents/Carers

As a Christian College, we believe in helping to shine the light and love of Jesus in disadvantaged communities around the world.

We have been working in partnership with Effective Aid International for over 16 years, supporting them in delivering quality education and facilities to impoverished children in refugee camps, orphanages and poverty-stricken villages along the border of Thailand and into Myanmar (find out more at www.effectiveaid.org). In 2019, Hillcrest raised over $20,000 to help build classrooms for these displaced children.

The exciting news is that Hillcrest has been given the opportunity to further assist Effective Aid International in building classrooms and dormitory housing in their Schools in Myanmar. Our College’s collective fundraising efforts go a long way to ensure these displaced children can receive an education and be loved and cared for by a community. Hillcrest Christian College teacher, Mrs Alison Whebell, has relocated to this area working with Effective Aid International in helping establish their High School in Myanmar.

CHOCOLATE BOX FUNDRAISING DRIVE - How does the fundraiser work?

In week 10, in time for Easter, you will receive a chocolate box via your eldest child in each Hillcrest family. There are two types of boxes, containing either:

• Cadbury Dairy Milk Freddo and Caramello Koalas. Sale price: $1.00 each x 60 pieces = $60 per box or;

• Toblerone | Boost | Time out | Crunchie | Cherry Ripe Sale price: $1.00 each x 60 pieces = $60 per box

or

We encourage students to sell chocolates to family and friends, and do not recommend involving children in door-to-door selling, unless under strict adult supervision. Each box raises $24 profit which will go directly to Effective Aid International. Prizes will also be given for the most chocolates sold. For each family taking a box, students can on-sell each item at the recommended retail price as above.

IMPORTANT OPTIONS TO CHOOSE FROM

Please choose from the 3 options below and click the relevant link. If choosing options 2 or 3 you will need to nominate before Monday 16 March.

1. OPTION ONE

I would like for my eldest child to receive a box of chocolates. I agree to paying the $60 by Friday 15 May 2020.

Thank you for your contribution. If you have chosen option 1, no response is needed from you.

A chocolate box will be coming home with your eldest child soon. The details for payment are outlined in the next section of this letter.

2. OPTION TWO

I do not wish to receive a chocolate box, but I would like to contribute by making a donation. Thank you for being part of this. You can donate directly now.

3. OPTION THREE

I am unable to contribute to the Chocolate Box Fundraiser this year. Thank you for your consideration.

RETURNING YOUR COLLECTED FUNDS

After you have collected the money from your child’s chocolate sales, please deposit the $60 via the ‘Pay it link’ here:

2020 Chocolate Box Fundraiser

This link is also available in the Community Zone under Online Payments. Just hover over the underlined link and press Ctrl & click your mouse to be sent to the payment page.

All chocolate box funds are due by Friday 15 May 2020.

PLEASE DO NOT SEND CASH TO THE COLLEGE FOR THIS FUNDRAISER.

Payment must be made through the ‘Pay it link’, so that we can accurately track all returned monies and maximise the donation to Effective Aid International. We are unable to accept any part of the box back as they are purchased as whole boxes and not individual packets. If the box is opened, full payment of $60 must be made using the link above.

We thank you in advance for your contribution to this worthwhile venture and ask for your prayers for Allison as she continues in her mission work, along with all other Effective Aid Volunteers and workers making a positive difference to young children of Myanmar.
