Dear Parents/Carers
Last week our Queensland Government local member, Ros Bates met with the year 12 leaders. Her passion for her job and the advice she gave our students was insightful and highly valued. Ros warmed to our children and complimented them as she left. Our students do make an incredible impact wherever they go, and visitors to the school often observe a point of difference in our students.
In my recent devotions I have been reminded of God’s love and hope and I find it particularly relevant to where we are as a school. People see the difference in our students but find it hard to describe. I think the answer is found in,
‘And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.’1 Corinthians 13:13
As we build a culture of love and acceptance and view the world through the lens of the cross, people will increasingly see young people who have the desire to challenge the status quo and make valuable contributions to society.
On Wednesday morning we gathered as a College community for our fortnightly time of Community Worship on the Hub deck. At the conclusion of the service six students approached me and asked to pray for me to support our community with wisdom and discernment. As a Principal of many years I was humbled to see them step out in faith.
We are truly blessed to have a community of young people who are actively demonstrating our Shield values of respect, integrity, courage, service, humility, diligence and discernment. The combination of these values, instilled in our young people, is what makes our students different. As we move through the remainder of Term One, I would ask you too to join with us in continually upholding our College community in prayer.
Blessings,
Jeff Davis
