Hillcrest Christian College Debating

On Wednesday 9 March Hillcrest Christian College Debaters competed in the first round of debates for the year.

The Junior B topic was: Homework is a Worthwhile Use of Time. HCC 2 debated in the affirmative but were sadly defeated by their opposition. HCC 1 debated in the Negative and victoriously won their debate. Both teams have learned new strategies and are now getting ready for the second round.

The Year 10 Intermediate Debating Team faced up against Emmanuel in a debate about the value of loyalty. The teams were separated by only one point, with Hillcrest as the affirmative team not winning this time. The adjudicator was very surprised that this was their first ever debate and congratulated them on a near win against a much more experienced team. We are expecting big things from them.

Next Wednesday evening, Hillcrest will host the Senior B Debating competition on campus.

We have three senior teams this year. The debate topic is: Employment should take precedence over the environment.
