Hillcrest Students Become Lawyers for a Day

Hillcrest’s Senior Mooting Team, consisting of Senior Legal Studies students, Madeline Abio (barrister), Jessica Coleman (barrister) and Isabella Cramp (solicitor), competed with distinction in the prestigious Bond University National High School Mooting Competition in Term 2 this year.

Over 100 teams from around Australia competed in this challenging competition, and although the Hillcrest team did not make the final 10, the way in which our students structured their detailed, in-depth and sophisticated legal arguments and responded to intense questioning from the bench, was "truly inspiring," according to the two Bond University Law Lecturers who were judges during the mock court appeal.

Special thanks to former Hillcrest student and current dual Law/International Relations Bond University student, Kate van Bruggen, for her wonderful dedication to coaching the team, honing their skills of legal analysis and advocacy to an excellent standard.
