Hillcrest wins 5-Star Innovative Schools Award 2022

Hillcrest Listed as one of 5-Star Innovative Schools for 2022

Hillcrest has been named one of the most innovative schools in the country. The school was selected as part of the Educator’s 5-Star Innovative Schools Awards for 2022, which recognise Australian Schools at the forefront of ground-breaking educational programs and initiatives.

“Education is ripe for disruption, ...The traditional model in schools or universities could change drastically over the next 10 or 20 years. What we saw during the pandemic is that different methods of teaching and online classes can work.”
Alex Robson - Productivity Commission Deputy Chair. The Productivity Commission, is Australian government’s advisory body on economic and school affairs.

The Educator’s 5-Star Innovative School award recognises the schools at the forefront of change and innovation. From teaching approaches to learning spaces and curriculum design, the report looks at schools reshaping the future of education and pioneering a new direction in learning and teaching.

After a vigorous judging process, the report narrowed down to the country’s most forward-thinking schools, which make up The Educator’s 5-Star Innovative Schools 2022 list.

Hillcrest was included as one of only eight independent schools to receive the award across Australia.

Hillcrest Christian College continues to be recognised for its innovative teaching and learning programs winning The Educator Innovation in Learning Environment Design in 2021 for the Middle Learning Community.

In 2022, Hillcrest not only celebrated its 40th Year but also founded its Virtual Learning Community (VLC), currently enrolling Distance Education students for 2023.

The College also continues its innovative and sustainability programs including The Lake Gold Coast Council Water Management Project, was the first school to invest in zero emission EV school coaches and its proposed Coolangatta Innovation Campus for Year 9 students is scheduled to open in 2023.
