Hillcrest's Mountain Biking Team Race to Place

On Friday, 1 November, the Hillcrest Knights MTB team participated in their second-ever mountain biking competition, at the Gold Coast Schools MTB Competition. 18 Gold Coast schools, including over 90 participants, competed at the event across three challenging downhill courses. Students had the opportunity to ride each course as many times as possible, to achieve their fastest course time. Their best times across all three race stages were then combined to give a total overall race time. The team started out well and students had the opportunity to pit their skills against some of the best riders on the Coast. Live timing helped to ensure students were able to track their progress through the day, and seconds were shaved off fastest times as they battled it out for First Place in their respective age groups.

The competition culminated with an awards ceremony, with the Hillcrest Knights MTB team proud to take out Third Place overall. Special mention to Tom Fothergill (3rd in 11/12 Boys), Sam Schooley (4th in 9/10 Boys) and Kai Pyyvaara (4th in 7/8 Boys). Sam Schooley also took out overall Fourth place out of 90+ participants.

Well done to all of our athletes, and special thanks to the parents who were involved on the day for their incredible support, and for providing gazebos, brownies, spares, tools and loads of smiles and encouragement!
