Hillcrest's Year 10 Legal Eaglets Leave the Nest for the First Time

In the spirit of real-world risk taking of intrepid Antarctic adventurer, Geoff Wilson, Hillcrest’s Year 10 Legal students paid a flying visit to Parliament House in Brisbane on Tuesday, 23 February 2016; foregoing the relative safety of their ‘nest’ (Room 27) for the thrills and spills of a frenetic Question Time, featuring a heated debate between the Queensland Premier and the Leader of the Opposition. They then became engaged in a mock parliamentary debate about a hypothetical proposed law of making school compulsory from 9am to 5pm. Risk taking in real-world immersions such as this excursion where our students learn to voice their opinions with dignity, respect and authority, is essential to the ultimate development of wisdom, empathy and action. Character is destiny!
