IGNITE: Science of Sound

Year 2 Ignite has had lots of noisy fun learning about the ‘Science of Sound’ this term. We have built 3d models of the inner ear, learnt about animal echolocation, performed some fun experiments studying vibrations, constructed our own telephones and worked on designing musical instruments!

Year 1 Ignite scientists have thoroughly enjoyed investigating the properties of water through a variety of exciting experiments. Perhaps our favourite experiment this term has been creating our very own ‘lava lamps’, comparing the densities of oil and water, coupled with a study of carbon dioxide gas.

The Ignite Prep Science program this term has allowed for every Prep student to be engaged in their own classroom. The Preppies loved learning more about chemical reactions in the form of both entertaining and educational hands-on experiments. Volcano-making was a firm favourite!
