JLC Students Gain Valuable Lessons in First Aid

Throughout Week 9, our JLC students gained valuable life lessons from St John Ambulance Australia (Queensland branch) during their First Aid in Schools Program. St John’s volunteer trainers came to Hillcrest and taught all of our Prep – Year 6 classes some very important techniques in First Aid, and what to do in an emergency situation.

This Program has been specifically designed with children’s learning in mind and includes interactive, fun and memorable ways for students to learn a key set of skills that may one day save a life, such as:

  • How to call an ambulance
  • Assessing danger in an emergency situation
  • How to deal with an unconscious person
  • Utilising the recovery position (Years 5 and 6)

Thanks to St John Ambulance and their staff for providing this amazing free program for our students, and many others across Queensland!
