Kai Pyyvaara Strikes Again

Earlier this year, Kai Pyyvaara spent nearly four months in Europe, where he represented Australia in Futsal at the Top 12/Elite 96 experience in March. In May he also trained in Ireland, with current Irish League Champions, Crusaders FC.

The Top 12 Futsal experience selected players from around Australia, with five Australian teams travelling to Barcelona. Kai was one of 12 boys in the U13/14 team. The experience provided an exciting opportunity to be trained by top coaches at Barcelona FC, to gain experience on what life is like as a top player, and to compete against local Spanish teams. The experience culminated in a four-way competition with US, Spanish and Brazilian teams. The U13/14 Australian boys played well and finished with Bronze, going down to both Brazil and Spain in hard-fought matches.

Tours of the Barcelona FC stadium, attendance at a Barcelona FC football game (watching Messi) and a Movistar Futsal game (watching Ricardinho), along with meeting and talking to top players, were all highlights of the trip, outside of the coaching and training opportunities.

Our own Hillcrest Futsal coach Glynn Boyd organised for Kai to train with Crusaders FC in Ireland, who are the current Irish League Champions. Kai received positive feedback from the coaches with the team asking him to play with them next season!

The Pyyvaara family wish to thank Hillcrest for supporting and encouraging Kai to take this opportunity to travel and chase his futsal/football aspirations, and also thank Glynn for organising the Ireland training experience.
