Katie Deeble Plays for Australia and Named All-Star Five in Tournament

Katie Deeble represented Australia for Basketball in the FIBA U17 Women's Oceania Championship 2019 in August. Eight teams took part in the tournament, involving more than a hundred amazing young players. Katie's team capped off a clean sweep of the tournament and secured their Tournament Gold medal following a 88-41 victory against New Zealand.

Katie's stand-out performance throughout this Championship saw her earn a coveted place in this prestigious FIBA U17 Oceania Championship All-Star Five for the Women's division. FIBA stated "Australia could have not done this championship sweep if not for its facilitator Kate Deeble... Though undersized at just 5'6, Deeble proved to be the most lethal piece for Australia as she was everywhere in all of their blowouts wins, tallying impressive norms of 11.6 markers, 3.2 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game."

Congratulations Katie and we look forward to watching you on court with the Hillcrest team at the upcoming State and National Schools' Tournaments.
