National Children's Book Week Celebrations

Each year across Australia, the Children's Book Council of Australia brings children and books together to celebrate Children’s Book Week. This year's theme was 'Escape to Everywhere' and from August 19 - 26, schools, libraries, booksellers, authors, illustrators and children celebrated Australian children's literature.

To promote National Children's Book Week at Hillcrest, our JLC students participated in a range of activities aimed at celebrating the beauty of books. Our much-anticipated Book Parade occupied many young minds (and parents' time), as students prepared to wow the Junior Learning Community with their colourful, creative and quirky character costumes.

This year, the Book Week Parade took place over two days, and was held on 22 August, for our Prep-2 students, and on 23 August for our Years 3-6 students. This allowed more space for the students to showcase their costume masterpieces and a great time was had by all.
