NEW HORIZONS: Hope and New Beginnings

New Horizons is an allegory for hope and new beginnings. The New Horizon's program is the embodiment hope as we journey towards a brighter future with our students. The 21st Century has now become the ‘Innovation Age’ and for students to succeed in the current work space it is more important that they develop interpersonal skills rather than just knowledge. These skills include: problem solving, collaboration, creative thinking, reflective learning, emotional intelligence, leadership and adaptability.

The New Horizon’s Program is committed to preparing our students for the future and we are doing this by having a greater focus on 'Project Based Learning' or PBL. Research has found that schools that immerse students in a PBL curriculum outperform students educated in a standard curriculum. PBL tasks occur across Learning Areas with teachers encouraging students to produce work that utilises their higher order thinking. Other initiatives include extending the students in their regular class work by drilling down to greater deeps of understanding and accelerating the students a year above in Mathematics.
