New Horizons Celebr8 Evening Showcases Design-Centred Learning

On Thursday, 26 April, our Senior Learning Community welcomed over 200 parents and teachers to the New Horizons Celebr8 evening. This special event was an exciting opportunity for students to showcase their Design Centred Learning (DCL) projects from Term 1, across a broad range of subject areas.

Student Reflections:
'At the Celebrate evening, our Year 8 English and HaSS class presented the audio visual poems that we created in Term 1. The night was extremely successful, and everyone enjoyed celebrating what we had created.' - Paris Firgaira, Year 8

'The New Horizons Celbr8 night was a chance to portray our diligent efforts to family and friends, of our Term 1 assignments. The Expo night began with a soliloquy performance by the Year 9 New Horizons English class which captured the audience’s attention. The rest of the night, family and friends wandered through the classrooms to view the individual students work over Term 1.' - Holly Woodroffe, Year 9

'From flying balsa wood planes to performing our poems as a class, the Celebr8 event was a night that made us, as students, proud. Presenting our soliloquies was something that forced us out of our comfort zone, and at the time it was rather nerve racking, but I am thankful for the wonderful opportunity we had to share it with others.' - Shelby Parkes, Year 9

'I was involved in a performance showcasing various soliloquies and after weeks of composition, it was rewarding to be able to present it, and showcase what we all had worked on. The Celebr8 night was also enjoyable as I was able to view other classes' work and achievements.' - Logan Chapman, Year 9
