Last week our JLC Captains, Vice Captains, Prefects and House Captains participated in a training session on how to evaluate evidence in students’ SECRET Skills portfolios. This is a crucial next step in the implementation of the SECRET Skills framework at Hillcrest, and we are excited that our student leaders can help to drive learning in this way.
With a focus on how to give constructive, honest and kind feedback, the leadership team participated in activities and role-played scenarios in order to help their peers achieve at each of the levels across the six Skill domains. They then worked with the 3KM class to practice this accreditation process, using the students’ SECRET Skills portfolios. The student leadership team showed great understanding and depth of thinking during this training. We look forward to them working with other classes on further developing these Skills next semester.
