Term 1 Parent Partners Evening: Nurturing A Love of Reading

We invite all JLC parents to join us for our first Parent Partners evening of 2020. Author of 'Raising Readers: How to nurture a child’s love of books,' and Queensland Teacher Librarian of the Year, Megan Daley will present to Hillcrest parents on the value of reading to your child, the differences between home readers and children’s literature, and how to engage reluctant readers in the joys of reading. This presentation is suitable for parents with students from Prep - Year 6, and we highly recommend you attend.

Our special guest speaker is passionate about children's literature and sharing it with young and old alike. Megan has been recognised for her work and was awarded the National Dromken Librarians Award, presented by the State Library of Victoria. She is former national Vice-President of the Children's Book Council of Australia, is currently on the Queensland Chapter of the Board of the Australian Children's Laureate, and is on the Publications Committee of the National Library of Australia.

Whether you have a reluctant reader, or a child who loves reading so much they try to do it by moonlight after the lights are out, don’t miss this opportunity to hear Megan speak, during our upcoming Parent Partners event.
