From 7 - 9 June, 2019, Ava Usher, Taya Reeves and Sunny Lappin represented Hillcrest Christian College at the Under 12 AFL State Championships in the South Coast regional AFL team.
The team won six games in a row by margins over 40 points which saw them head into the Grand Final undefeated. They then played against Sunshine Coast in the Grand Final, and were trailing by 7 points at half time, but the girls rallied to win by less than two goals and secure the victory.
Our three Hillcrest players all played a significant part in winning the State Championships over the three-day carnival, with a special mention to Ava Usher, who won the Carnival MVP for the Best Under 12 player in Queensland.
Not only did the team win the carnival on the field, but they were also judged the team who displayed the best spirit and sportsmanship over the three days, which reflects very well on the College's values. Congratulations Ava, Taya and Sunny!
