World Oceans Day Photography Competition Short List: Holly Woodroffe

WORLD OCEANS DAY PHOTOGRAPHY COMPETITION: HOLLY WOODROFFE

Congratulations Year 8 art student, Holly Woodroffe, who recently made the short list for the World Oceans Day photography competition. Her task was to take a photograph that celebrates the world oceans through two categories: Ocean Creatures and Ocean Landscape. Holly chose the above photograph to enter into the Ocean Creatures category and was on public display at Sea World¹s Shark Bay underwater viewing gallery from the 9-11 June. Well done Holly on representing the College and your stunning photograph!

ARTIST STATEMENT: "The bottomless secrecies of the deep-sea sways within the depths of the layers of the stars of ocean. Brittle stars endlessly shining on the seabed of the oceans floor, below the surface, searching, surviving, and scavenging on whatever it meets. Each arm draws the water with its tube feet, suctioning and slowly creeping like a caterpillar. Attractive, lively, gleaming colours like a show celebrating and guarding itself with a regenerating lifestyle, one that anyone would wish for. SeaWorld is like a window into the heart of the deep blue, that gives people like you and me an opportunity to respect and take a glimpse at a portion of the ocean¹s beauty."
