Year 3s Journey Back In Time

On Tuesday 5 June, and Wednesday 6 June, the Year 3 classes went on a journey over Burleigh headland to Jellurgal Aboriginal Cultural Centre. There they met a traditional land owner, and heard the dreamtime stories associated with the mountain named Jellurgal. The group learned about life in the bush, traditional bush foods, fishing and hunting. They gained insight into the community and culture of the Yugambeh Aboriginal people (one of the oldest living cultures in the world), and learned about the Aboriginal history and culture of the Gold Coast. It was an insightful, fun and interesting excursion, and one which staff and students will remember for a very long time.
