Year 5 Sea World Excursion

On Wednesday 8th March, Year 5 mainstream students had the wonderful opportunity of using their Theme Park passes to visit SeaWorld as part of their Science studies. Mr. Parkes and the students have been exploring animal habitats and animal adaptations, so Sea World was the perfect place to see how animals live in captivity and what measures Sea World has undertaken to provide as natural an environment as possible for their animals.

While we didn’t get to swim with the sharks or pat the dolphins, students were able to tickle the rays, admire the polar bears and watch, in amazement, the stunning array of sea life in the underwater shark tents. All the while, the students were eagerly taking copious notes and drawing diagrams to gather data for their assignment. The staff of Sea World were on hand after the sea lion show to share their knowledge with the students and help them learn about the adaptations of these clever animals.

A special thank you to all the parent helpers who accompanied us on our explorations. We were so proud of the behaviour of the students and of the way they engaged so enthusiastically in completing their activities.
