Hillcrest’s Year 12 Students Assist with Year 8 Camp Brisbane City ‘Bridge 2 Bridge Challenge’

It was wonderful to accompany nine Hillcrest Year 12 students, Austin Carlton, Jacky Choy, Genevieve Cochran, Brylee Davis, Shanae Kollen, Anabelle McConnell, Charlotte Russell, Jemima Smith and Jeremy Zhang, on an early morning train trip from Varsity Lakes Station to Brisbane City, who then spent the rest of the very hot and humid day assisting with small groups of Hillcrest Year 8 campers as they journeyed from landmark to landmark between the Botanic Gardens and South Bank in an epic ‘Bridge 2 Bridge Challenge’ on Thursday, 2 February.

It was great to see the Year 12s integrating with the Year 8s as the day progressed, as they worked together to achieve a lovely synergy of SLC youth and experience in meeting their many challenges.

Thanks to Mr Fernance, Mr Power and Mrs Stortenbeker for organising this unique opportunity for senior and junior members of the SLC to get to know each other and build friendships between the year levels for the year ahead.

It is memorable camp experiences like these this week that are engendering in the Hillcrest students a life-giving spirit and culture of tolerance, perseverance, teamwork, encouragement and celebration (John 13:35).
