Congratulations to our busy performer Bella

At only 8 years of age, Bella Gilbert has been a very busy and dedicated performer, and recently competed in the Calisthenics State competition in Brisbane, as well as the Murwillumbah Festival of Performing Arts. 

Calisthenics is a sport and an art form which combines physical development, coordination, self-discipline and team spirit, with an appreciation of music and rhythm, as athletes perform their choreographed act to an audience. Bella is part of the Southern Stars Calisthenics group, who train under Calisthenics Australia. Her sub-junior team were successfully awarded Runners Up overall at the State competition, winning two First Place awards, one Second Place and three Third Place.


Under the direction of her Hillcrest Speech and Drama teacher, Jan Bonniwell, Bella also participated in the Murwillumbah Festival of Performing Arts and received a raft of awards, including:

  • First place - Poem in pairs with India Rossow: Telephone chat
  • First place - Prose: Snow White and the seven dwarfs
  • Second place - Verse speaking: Peace 
  • Third place - Drama: Ballet exam
  • Highly commended - Humorous: The Vegetarian
