Communities
Hillcrest Christian College commenced its International Student Program in 1996 and is registered to accept international students from Prep - Year 12.
Our dedicated staff fosters a culture of care and support, ensuring that every international student feels welcomed, safe, and valued. International students are integrated with Australian students into the learning environment, studying side by side in English with resident students.
We look forward to welcoming you to our community.

International students are able to enrol in three sub-schools within the College
Junior Learning Community (Prep to Year 4) CRICOS 085421 J
Learning comes to life in the Junior Learning Community (Prep to Year 4) as children embark on a journey through guided discovery. Guided learning leads children to increasing independence and autonomy as confident learners who have knowledge and skills to embrace an ever-changing world.
Middle Learning Community (Year 5 to Year 9) CRICOS 085422G
At a stage where students are undergoing many physical, social and emotional changes, students require a focussed approach in early adolescence to meet their specific needs.
The Middle School is about guiding students with age-appropriate learning that builds personal interests and strengths while supporting social and emotional wellbeing for every child.
Senior Learning Community (Year 10 to Year 12) CRICOS 085423G
Students move into the Senior Learning Community (SLC) at Year 9, choosing their pathway based around studying core subjects, elective subjects or vocational and tertiary pathways. This flexibility aligns with an individual's personal interests and strengths and combined with staff support, provides the necessary roadmap to drive students towards their future goals.
Live with a parent or accepted legal guardian
Legal guardians are biological parents or blood relatives of the student studying
The parent/guardian MUST be living full-time with the student studying
Must hold a Guardian Visa 590
Live with a Homestay family (This option is for Years 7 – 12 ONLY)
International students in Years 7 – 12 have the option of living with a homestay family.
Students are assigned to English-speaking homestay families who have been carefully selected by the College, ensuring a full immersion experience of Australian culture and way of life.
Hillcrest has a long-standing partnership with a Gold Coast based homestay company. This ensures we place students with caring families in a safe environment.
Each homestay is checked for suitability of facilities and families. The College places the student in a homestay family that best matches their needs to provide the best home environment. A house check is conducted by the homestay company every six months.
We have a team of staff who help international students transition and learn in a new environment where they are working in a second (or sometimes third) language as well as ongoing support throughout their time at Hillcrest.
Our international students are integrated into mainstream classes and qualified ESL staff provide English language support in class and after school so that students can be successfully integrated into mainstream classes with Australian standards.
