Two of Hillcrest's elite female basketballers have received the call up to the Aon New Zealand Women’s Under 17 team to compete in the FIBA Under 17 World Cup being held in Belarus at the end of July. Year 12 students, Tara Manumaleuga (Open Girls Captain) and Kyra Paniora (Open Girls Vice-Captain), are set to shine as they take on the world's best.

This latest accomplishment for these two players came after a rigorous selection process, beating out some serious talent to make the team. This is Kyra's second time to the World Cup party, having made the Aon New Zealand Under 17 Girls team that competed in the FIBA Asia Cup in Bangalore, India last year, qualifying them for the World Cup this year. The girls will make history as the first FIBA age-group World Cup ever attended by a New Zealand Women’s team.

Congratulations Tara and Kyra, we are extremely proud of you both and cannot wait to see you take centre court next month.

The tournament will be streamed live and more details on how to live stream the action will be posted on the Hillcrest Sport Facebook page as it comes available. Be sure to tune in to see them in action!
