Hillcrest Honours Our ANZACs

On Tuesday 24 April, we held two very special services for our SLC students in the MPC, and JLC students in the MPH, to commemorate ANZAC Day. These heartfelt assemblies were an important opportunity for our College Community to reflect on the incredible sacrifices of our past and present servicemen and women. At each service, the solemn sound of The Last Post being played on the trumpet, echoed across the auditorium, and was followed by a minute's silence to each reflect and honour the sacrifices of our fallen soldiers.

Mr Williamson, Deputy Head of JLC, commented on the service, following the event "I have to say how proud I am of our students today. Our Year 6 leaders led every aspect of the service so maturely. Our Year 5/6 Poco Voice choir sang beautifully. And all of our Kindy - Year 4 students were engaged, respectful and really showed the Hillcrest Way. Special mention to our honoured guest Mr Mark Beacall, our school Head of Security, who is a former member of the Australian Military Police."

Our Senior Students were addressed by Ms Ros Bates (State Member for Mudgeeraba), Sergeant Lachlan Kierns (Australian Army) and our College Captains; and heard reflections from Molly Swanson (Year 10) and Maddison Richie (Year 12). Retired Major Andy Cullen and wife, Zoe, also attended as special guests. We also heard two beautifully sung works; ‘The Last ANZAC,’ performed by Poco Voce; and ‘Amazing Grace,’ sung by our Senior girl students, with Ms Moon, Mrs Rienecker and Miss Battle.

Lest we forget.
