In the last week of Term 1, Hillcrest welcomed the New Zealand Women’s National Team, the Tall Ferns, to our College to play against our Open Boys team. Amidst much excitement from the Hillcrest Community, our enthusiastic Open Boys team went into the game with determination, ready for a hard contest against their opposition. The boys took an early lead, but once the game settled, the Tall Ferns clawed back to within six points. At the sound of the buzzer, the Hillcrest boys claimed victory.
On behalf of Hillcrest Basketball, we would like to thank the Tall Ferns for including us in their pre-Commonwealth Games schedule, and for bringing the Games experience to Hillcrest. We also wish to thank the broader community of more than 80 spectators who came along to show their support, creating a fabulous atmosphere.
