Spectacular Sights at Science Week

Science Week kicked off informally at the Father and Son night on Saturday 11 August, as students viewed and identified various stars using a stargazing app. On Monday 13 August, students were treated to an amazing and spectacular lunch time science show as Mr Fesuk, and his loyal band of science teachers and SLC STEM ambassadors, wowed the audience with explosive experiments, livened us up with liquid nitrogen and brought a cacophony of chemistry displays. Some amazing experiments were covered in the 40 minute show and students only wished it lasted longer.

Throughout the week, the SLC STEM ambassadors volunteered their knowledge and skills through activities and experiments to the Castle audiences of Tuesday's ESTEAM classes, as well as to Yeasr 3 - 6 students during break times in the JLC Science room. Our SLC students' enthusiasm and skills were greatly appreciated and enjoyed by the students.

Sea World staff also visited the College Precinct on Thursday with a presentation to our Years 3 - 5 students about Shark rescue and research. The students were awestruck at the tales and facts presented to them.

Science Week was topped off with some enthusiastic student contributions for the upcoming Griffith University Gold Coast Schools Science Competition, with Years 3 - 6 students using their own time to pursue scientific questions, displaying their findings during the lunch break for us all to enjoy.

We truly have some amazing scientists at work in the College as they explore God's world in wonder and apply what they learn to life, and towards the glory of God.
