Students Continue to Develop Their Sports Skills

Throughout the term, our JLC students participate in a range of Sports Development activities as part of our curriculum program, designed to strengthen their skills in a range of different sports. Over the past week, our Years 3 and 4 Taylor students engaged in a stirring round of goal-shooting practice, ball-control skills, and some general gross-motor activities and fitness games. Willow Sutherland (3/4 Lumos) was acknowledged for her wonderful determination and positive approach to training.

Carmichael had a fabulous time developing their netball skills through an energetic and exciting training session. There were plenty of opportunities to practise their accuracy with drills for catching and throwing along with some fun games of hunt the treasure. Luke Cole (4LG) was commended for his positive attitude and sportsmanship.

Our Greene students participated in an inspiring morning of agility training and developing the basics of high jump. In agility training they practised a variety of speed activities and drills designed to work on their balance, as well as leg and core muscles, to help increase personal performance and coordination. During high jump training, the students determined their preferred takeoff leg, practised a simple scissor-kick onto the mats and then explored this technique over a padded rope. Trinity Ransome (4LS) was praised for her terrific style while Caspian Nickless (3JY) was recognised for his positive approach.

Flynn participated in AFL this week and developed their catching, passing and movement skills through a range of drills and group activities. The students also enjoyed opportunities to work collaboratively as they honed their teamwork skills in a mini game of AFL. Araceli Pena (3HC) and Elias Liasides Tsompanellis (4JT) received a special mention for their skills and teamwork while Charli Lynch (4JT) was congratulated for winning this week’s running game.
