Year 8s Wow Audience With Strong Messages at Dramafest

On Saturday 11 August, nine Year 8 Hillcrest students presented a thought-provoking student-devised drama at the 46th annual Gold Coast Drama Festival. Trinity Lutheran College hosted the evening, which was full of incredible talent and wonderful artistic presentations.

Hillcrest was one of 12 schools to enter the Junior Section for students in Years 7 and 8. Our ensemble chose the theme of The Advance of Technology and how it affects our lives, including relationships and social interaction. Their drama, titled ‘Look Up,’ dealt with issues of finding worth in online likes, gaming and its effects on relationships, and cyber bullying. The students wowed the audience with their strong messages.

On the night, our group of Hillcrest Drama students were awarded four Highly Commended awards, in the categories of:

  • The Concept
  • The Ensemble
  • Magic Moment - Fortnite Sequence
  • An individual award for Paris Firgaira

Our very own Isabella Cramp compered the evening, tying together the amazing drama and topping off an incredible evening of performances.
