The JLC had 36 students participate in the Gold Coast Regional Interschool Chess tournament that involves more than 30 schools and over 600 students attended.

In Premier our team came second (Byron Morris, Ben Atia, Cooper Douglas and Raf Atia) Raf Atia also was awarded a medal for best ‘board 4’ – This also means the team have qualified for QLD state finals - well done boys!
In D grade our team came first (Malakai Guidolin, Jet Parkes, Tom Seton and Nathan Gardner) Malakai and Tom also received equal first for winning all games
In E grade Hugh Cullen was third individually
In F grade Elijah Welsh was first individually
Several students also received ribbons of merit: Joshua Cotton, Mischa Bestuzhev, Niamh Duffy and Isabella Marcos
