Choral Excellence Camp

The ninth annual Hillcrest Choral Camp was held from 24 – 26 February for two of our three College Excellence Choirs. The 71 members of Bella Voce and Bel Canto spent two days at beautiful North Tambourine, involved in workshops, rehearsals and dance classes. In particular for Bella Voce, who are travelling to Canberra in August this year to compete at the National Eisteddfod, this was a valuable time spent learning new repertoire.

The choirs participated in workshops with our visiting guest conductor Mr Timothy Sherlock and were very fortunate to be able to sing music composed by Tim.

Both choirs were put through their paces, so to speak, when Ms Vanessa Dean, our Senior dance teacher, joined us on Saturday morning for dance classes.

The Year 12 Bel Canto girls organised the social activities across the weekend including a costumed Musicals Broadway Trivial Pursuit and an “a capella riff-off” challenge. This was a fantastic way for students from Years 7 – 12 to get to know one another.

Many thanks to the staff involved across the weekend and to the many parents and friends who travelled up the mountain Sunday to join us for our end of camp concert.
