Design Thinking Masterclass + MLC Building Update

Earlier this week, Hillcrest hosted a Design Thinking Masterclass that was delivered by Inspire Education and supported by QMI Solutions and the Queensland Government. While it was a small group of educators from across South-East Queensland (due to concern with COVID-19), it was great to see Hillcrest again leading the way in supporting others in their learning and modelling a culture of collaborative improvement.

The reason the College values Design Thinking is that it engages students to think critically and creatively, to design, develop and discover, but above all, it teaches students to establish empathy for a variety of stakeholders. These skills are relevant in any context both inside and outside the classroom.

Earlier this term, Rashan Senanayake (Founder of Inspire Education and former Young Business Person of the Year) interviewed Shelby Parkes from Year 11 to gain a perspective on the way students deal with failure as a learning opportunity, particularly through the Design Thinking process. MLC Building Update

As previously mentioned, we have completed our plans for the new building under the Precinct and have these plans currently out to tender as part of Government regulations. We hope the initial work will begin early next term and students will be moving into the new space early in Term 3. Parents of Kindy students can still park under the MPH right until the Easter break and we will keep you informed on parking changes as they become clearer for the start of Term 2.
