Stay at home parents should be paid for their work – was the controversial topic debated on Wednesday the 8th of March at Hillcrest Christian College. Round 1 of the Gold Coast Debating, Senior B competition included 12 teams, from various southern schools, participating in six prepared debates. Hillcrest arrived in force by entering four teams into the six debates. We are pleased to announce that we won three out of the four contests, two in the affirmative and one in the negative. After a heated practice debate, chilli con carne, caramel slice and cupcakes the evening culminated in a very successful first round for 2017. Next week our Junior B team is debating at All Saints with the topic: Pirates are better than Ninjas in the affirmative. We are hoping to bring home the treasure, arrr me hearties.
Thank you to all students, teachers and support staff for helping us host and compete in this competition.
