From the Executive Head of College - 21 July 2017

Welcome back to Term 3!

This week is an exciting one as we begin to see the finished Prep buildings with the final touches being made, prior to us taking possession in the next few weeks. The College has undertaken significant building projects over the past two years, during which time there has been disruption to the physical environment, and certainly to the parking opportunities around the College. Over the next few weeks much of this will be alleviated with the opening of more than 100 onsite car parks - this is something we will all rejoice in!

Over the past two years there have been many who have doubted the wisdom in completing multiple, consecutive projects. If I look to the bible, I can also see that when the Israelites left Egypt to go to the Promised Land, there were many challenges they faced throughout that journey, which often resulted in the feeling of frustration, lack of hope, and times of wishing they were back in captivity.

Today I walked around the campus with a family who have come from a different place, who are in the midst of a very difficult and sad circumstance. This family reminded me of what God has created here; they told me how incredible they found the College, how wonderful the students were, and how professional the staff were in every room we visited. At one point the father left to have a private moment to himself as he reflected on his current situation, knowing that God had led him to Hillcrest Christian College, where he discovered a safe, Christian environment that would support his family during the next season of their journey.

I am the first to admit that this has been a very difficult period in Hillcrest’s history, and I look forward to a new beginning as we enter the "Promised Land". The Israelites waited 40 years to claim the land that God has given them, and were blessed immensely when they arrived. I am certain that this next season at Hillcrest Christian College will be one of great blessing for our current and future families. I am so very thankful to God, and to you, for being part of the journey to get here.

Blessings,

Jeff Davis
