On Thursday, 1 August, Hillcrest hosted the inaugural QAMT (Queensland Association of Mathematics Teachers) 5/6 Mathematics Competition, attracting 90 competitors from 11 schools around the Gold Coast. While this prestigious event has been held in the Year 7/8 age group for many years, this was the first time the competition was available for our JLC students. Our three Hillcrest teams battled their way through Speed Quizzes, General Maths Knowledge questions, team and individual rounds throughout the night, making our College proud of their efforts. Thank you to the students who stepped in at the last moment due to illness of team members, and also to the many staff and students who stayed back to assist and to help the night run smoothly. We are already looking forward to next year’s competition!
