The Queensland State Chess Finals closed with an exciting finish this weekend! Gardiner Chess said it was the closest competition they have had in years.
Team 1 - Byron Morris, Ben Atia, Cooper Douglas and Raf Atia all played exceptionally well, coming second place to Somerset by only half a point! This result saw them defeat many of the big name chess schools: Macgregor SS, Robertson SS, Eagle Junction SS and Kings Christian College. Raf Atia received the board four award, ending the tournament undefeated.
Team 2 - Neo Hagel, Lachlan Aitken, Jack Seton and Callum Marlow also played very well, coming twelfth out of the thirty two teams.
Congratulations boys! We are so very proud of you!!
