Salvation Army Red Shield Appeal

On Thursday 20th of April an appeal for non-perishable food was launched within the Senior Learning Community. The Sport Coordinators and Captains advertised an appeal for non-perishable food for the Salvation Army’s Red Shield Appeal which was collected and placed in four big wheelie bins. The idea was to award one point for each food item collected within each sports house. The response was so overwhelming that counting the items would have taken more than one day, so the house with the fullest bin got the highest points. Taylor took the win, followed by Carmichael, Flynn and Greene. More important than the house points, was the enthusiasm of the students for this food collection. Students, parents and teachers gave generously and cheerfully.

“On behalf of the Gold Coast Temple Corps of the Salvation Army, we wish to thank you, the students and the Hillcrest Christian College families, for the kind donation of the food for welfare. The food will be very much appreciated by the Gold Coast Community. It is the community spirit that helps us to make our work possible. Ultimately, you are contributing to the men, women and children, to help re-establish themselves back into the community. In our 46 years of experience, this was the greatest response with short notice that we have received,” said Kevin and Valmae Holland.

Well done Hillcrest Community! Your generosity to the Gold Coast Community was unsurpassed. As it is written in 2 Corinthians 9:7, 8 “God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work”.

Thank you for giving generously and cheerfully.
